Great customer service..... Software was very buggy...

Updated April 19, 2025. The customer service contacted me regarding my issue and offered a replacement keyboard. It seems to fix the issue. I think it might be that keyboard was malfunctioned. I appreciate their quick response and customer service. It shows how much they care about their customer. Great job on that.

This keyboard is working fine out of the box, but my main goal is to use the customized functions.

1) You need to download the software, but the link is not even on the user manual. I found the download link from the Amazon product page. In fact, the user manual is very simple and does not hint any customized functions.

2) Once I downloaded and used the customized functions, such as changing keyboard lights, redefining keys, and macros, I get the error message ALL THE TIME (see the attached picture)!

3) Worst yet, once I received the error message, most of the keys on the keyboard are non-functional anymore, meaning, I could not even type anything. I could not do a factory reset because the keys were not responding. I could do a factory reset in the software because I kept getting the same error message. I tried restarting the computer but it did not reset (by the way, I could not even type my password so I had to get my old keyboard out).
Basically at this point, the keyboard was not functioning due to software error. There was no way to factory reset it.

Am I going to risk my money due to buggy software? Absolutely no! This mean unfortunately that I have to stay away from all Royal Kludge keyboards.

High performing keyboard.

Idk.. people tend to complain about everything nowadays. I really am not the mediocre conformist kind of guy, as I consider myself very picky, but I've read some reviews and seen some videos about this keyboard basically trashing it.

Well, let me tell you, after the 1st week, I'm simply loving it. I use it for work with RGB off (sure, call me boring, it's work). I'm an estimator so I wanted something engineer-y looking.. if you know what I mean. With this keyboard I got that plus the sturdiness and high performance of a red switch mechanical keyboard. Omg, what a joy to type on this thing vs my previous dome keyboard..

BUT, turns out I'm also a gamer and this is definitely NOT my first mechanical keyboard. Compared to my previous two corsair (also red switch) let me tell you, this one is not far behind. Yes I can tell a where they saved a little bit in materials (plastic vs aluminum frame, double shot caps.. etc) but I'd definitely game on this one too.

Alright, I think this is getting too long and I gotta go back to work and keep enjoying this beauty. If there's anything else you want to know just ask. I'll answer.

It’s amazing, the feeling while typing is unique, I just love it

Lowkey obsessed with my rk100

Love this board. Also, new to mechanical keyboard life. I use mine for work, because I'm no gamer. But, I definitely could start with this beauty. As you can see, I did change all of the keycaps. These are red switches and I used pudding keycaps.

Wouldn't recommend if you're into customization

This is my first mechanical keyboard and honestly, feels close to a lot of the top brand stuff I tried while I was researching different key types (i got the red keys). The build feels good and is on the heavier side.

The documentation is very lacking though. The usuar manual is hard to understand on some aspects.
There's a lot of on board backlight options but thats a down side since there's no easy way to pick one quickly, you just have to cycle through them until you find the one you like and there is no back tracking so you'll spend a lot of time on that. No indication of which profile you're using if you set that up which gets annoying as well.

The companion app is just awful and not really worth it, apart from being hard to find, doesn't have any good options nor is it clear to use. Backlight settings is very lacking and you won't be able to make anything better than the what the keybaord pre-ships with.

Virtually non existent macros in the app either, and not really clear on how you even go about setting things up.

If you're into a lot of customization this is not the keyboard for you. But if you want a cheap entry level keyboard this might be a good option. But only if its on a sale or something.

Good Quality keyboard, definetly worth it!

Pros:
Satisfying key switches, pre-lubed for convenience.
Attractive RGB lighting effects.
Useful multimedia and function keys.
Bluetooth connectivity for up to 3 devices.
Cons:

Slightly heavier than expected.
Keys may feel small if transitioning from a larger Microsoft or Logitech keyboard.
RK software doesn’t work in Bluetooth mode (tested on Windows 10).

Considerations:

Red cherry switches are clicky but not too loud.
Switches and keys can be replaced.
Overall, this is a great choice for mechanical keyboard enthusiasts.
I must also mention, that while the keys are nice, they could have used some transparency on the letters for better visibility in the dark. The carbon model with orange and black patterns is visually appealing and a great fit.

Minor issue but manufacturer sent me a new one!

Got this as a gift for Christmas and I had a few connectivity problems at first. The manufacturer ended up reaching out to me and sent a replacement. Works flawlessly now. In all honesty the keyboard has great physical quality, a hefty weight to it, and is very responsive. Highly recommend.

Replacement is working great!

I've been using this keyboard for about a month now, even typing on it right now!
Initially I was impressed by its build quality and good looks.
Unfortunately, after using it for a long period of time, it's become nearly unbearable.
As other reviews have mentioned, too many keystrokes simply don't register, which creates an incredibly frustrating typing experience.
Considering returning it, which is a shame because it's such a great keyboard otherwise.

EDIT: Customer support reached out to me because of my original negative review and sent me a replacement unit without charge. Happy to report the replacement is working great! Updated review to 5 stars! 10/10 for the price.

Would've given it 5 stars

I am a developer that works in a different time zone than my teammates and I work in the dark a lot and having shine through lettering and numbering seems easy enough to do yet this lacks. So I had to buy new keycaps.

Awesome Keyboard!

Good but missing that final detail.

The numeric keypad configuration can be improved. A key configuration of the form: Home, End, Del, Ins, PgUp, PgDn, with PrtSc as the function of the PgDn key would be more convenient. Given the level of use that each key has. Caps and Numpad signage is too hidden. The manual sucks. The configuration program for the RK100 model, I have not been able to find. The usb wifi keyboard connector is slightly oversized, it fits too tightly into the USB port. I could not configure the multimedia keys.
Good feeling with the materials.

Best keyboard I've owned so far.

Hands down best value, I got this for $56 on a lightning deal, didn't care it was only the blue LED version. Have had it since July last year and it hasn't let me down. I got this after using a gigantic G603. Absolutely love the compressed look and love to keep my numpad, which I do use. Sits very comfortably on my desk and bought a wrist rest for it as it is a tad higher than I'm accustomed to. Comes with plenty of lighting effects, and I operated it for months without the software until I wanted to change some macros and assigned keys, and it carried over to both bluetooth and 2.4ghz modes. Switching modes requires lifting the keyboard, but I've already lubed the Gateron reds and stabilizers, swapped to a Glorious V2 set which is compatible with this particular layout and the glow is awesome during nighttime. Plus the hot swap is a plus if I want to upgrade to browns maybe later as I do kinda miss them over the reds.

It’s a $90 keyboard that should be $50 at most

I’ve had this keyboard for a month and a half.

Here’s the deal: it falls so short in some arenas that I find really important, hence the rating.

The coolest thing for me was the key colors themselves. If you’re not as picky as me, it will do fine for your aesthetic office look.

1) Keys: this 104-key keyboard has many keys, but they’re not responsive 100% of the time. I went from 90 wpm to roughly 60 wpm because of key responsiveness.

2) Key placement: the top 2 rows (F keys and numbers/symbols) are set higher than the rest of the keyboard. This also happens inconsistently around the keyboard, further causing finger slip ups and obstructions when trying to type effectively.

3) THE MANUAL: After 30 days, the device updated and gave me some serious connection problems - Bluetooth, wired, wireless… I go to check the website and I don’t even see the product listed on there.

Basic troubleshooting steps should be easily accessible, basic set-up instructions are somehow both wordy and confusing despite the word count.

I FINALLY found answers in a forum; the hidden command to fix my issue was Fn+P. Was it in the manual? Nope.

Notes:
-There is only one color - a whitish blue. It’s not extremely bright.
-This review is not inclusive of all RK products, your mileage may vary.

Satisfying and Attractive Keyboard - Bluetooth Seems Bugged

This is my second RK keyboard, the other being an RK61. I have had more than a couple months to test this thing out.

I love this keyboard's design, both color and layout wise. Mine is in the Carbon color with Gateron Reds and is used strictly for work. It is *incredibly* satisfying to use. The backlight seems kind of pointless, given the blue color clashes with color scheme, and they keycaps don't have windows anyway, so I leave it off.

Really my only complaint is the Bluetooth radio seems to be bugged, which I was really looking forward to using and is part of what brought me to RK in the first place. It will randomly disconnect and can take anywhere from 3 to 10 seconds to become connected again. There have been times where it happens repeatedly in the span of a minute. I thought it was due to RF interference, but I've found experience the same at home, whereas my RK61 does not. I just keep it wired now.

TL;DR Lovely and satisfying keyboard, but bluetooth radio is bugged in my model.

Quick Customer Service

My keyboard wouldn’t charge anymore, but i contacted customer service and they quickly replaced it for me! I would recommend this seller. I didn’t even have to wait a day (or more than two hours) between replies.
